Video consumption is already on the rise in India, however, that content is no more limited to international languages. With the rise of smartphone penetration in India, content creators and publishers will have to adapt to creating local language content as well as offer translation or dubbing of popular international content on mobile in order to draw users.

Mobile video on demand (VOD) service Vuclip’s Global Video Insights (GVI) survey of emerging markets reveal an increasing interest in native languages videos on a single over-the-top (OTT) mobile app that also enables users to consume international content at length.

VoD Stats:

Telugu (6%)
Bengali (4%)
Marathi (4%)

80 per cent of survey respondents in India weighed in strongly that they preferred a single over-the-top (OTT) app for finding both regional and international video content.
