Dell buys EMC for $67 billion - Minnow Swallows a Whale

Dell the third largest PC vendor valued at around $25 billion, less than half the size of EMC  bought EMC in a deal valued at $67 billion or at $33.15 per share. This transaction is the largest tech deal ever.The deal is expected to close in mid-2016, subject to regulatory approval. MSD and Silverlake are the other partners who joined this deal.

With this acquisition, Dell will be able to compete in the cloud computing and storage space, while moving away from its server and consumer business.

"The combination of Dell and EMC will create the industry leader" in the $2 trillion information technology markets where they have complementary portfolio technologies and other resources"  Dell said during the conference call
